Make air fryer hunters chicken in 25 minutes using just four simple ingredients
Hunters chicken can take the best part of an hour to make in the oven, with each step crucial to cooking the meat perfectly.
Though there are many ways to make this classic pub-style meal, the core recipe requires just four affordable ingredients.
Using chicken, barbecue sauce, bacon and cheese, anyone can make a variation of the dish with almost any added extras.
Sharing the easy method on her food blog, Liana’s Kitchen, the avid home cook said: “So many chicken recipes can be made in an air fryer, and Hunter’s Chicken is one of them.
“In just 25 minutes you’ll be enjoying a juicy chicken wrapped in crispy bacon, smothered in BBQ sauce and melted cheese.”
Ingredients
For two servings:
- Two chicken breasts (one per person)
- Four rashers of bacon (or 1-2 per chicken breast)
- Six teaspoons of BBQ sauce
- 50g grated cheese – (cheddar, mozzarella, gouda, or parmesan)

Liana noted that either shop-bought or homemade BBQ sauce works for this recipe, and more or less can be used to adjust the amount of sauce on the chicken.
When it comes to bacon, medallions or rashers will work, though medallions tend to be healthier because they contain less fat.
To make the hunter’s chicken, start by placing the raw chicken breasts in the air fryer basket at 190C, and set a timer for 10 minutes.
When time is up, use tongs or a fork to remove the breasts and wrap each one in a rasher of bacon – or two. These can be held in place with a cocktail stick.

Return the bacon-wrapped chicken to the fryer basket and brush each one with an even amount of bbq sauce before sprinkling it with cheese.
Cook for a further two to three minutes or until the cheese has melted and the sauce is piping hot.
Remove the hunter’s chicken from the air fryer, and pull out the cocktail sticks. Cut the meat slightly or use a thermometer to ensure the meat is properly cooked.
Serve on its own or with a side dish like this easy air fryer corn on the cob.
