I compared Lidl and Aldi’s budget-friendly Christmas chocolate – clear winner
Nothing screams Christmas more than festive chocolate in the supermarket, with Lindt and Cadbury known for their popular Santas and reindeer.
However, budget supermarkets Aldi and Lidl also have their own versions, and for much cheaper than the others too.
Prices vary drastically between Lindt which is around £3 for a medium-sized reindeer compared to Aldi’s for just 89p.
Cadbury’s version can be picked up for around £2, while Lidl’s Santa retails for just £1.09.
I couldn’t get my hands on Aldi’s Christmas Santa so opted for the reindeer alternative which is under the Dairyfine brand.

It weighed 105g and for 89p I didn’t have high hopes that this would be tasty, but I was quite surprised.
It wasn’t too sweet or milky which could be a favourite for many people, although I do like some creaminess to my chocolate.
The flavour did let it down slightly but it is a great gift nonetheless for just 89p.
However, the packaging was great and very similar to the Lindt version, just without its signature bell around the neck.

Lidl offers a striking chocolate Santa which is very tall and weighs 150g, slightly less than Aldi’s 175g chocolate Santa.
The taste is very different to Aldi’s though as it was far creamier and had a much nicer taste than Aldi’s version.
I also found the Lidl one to taste better than the Kinder version which I recently put to the test against Cadbury and Lindt.

It has a very good value for money too at only £1.09 a Santa, making them the perfect stocking filler for everyone.
I recently put four chocolate Santas to the test including Lindt, Cadbury, Kinder and Thorntons.
While each of them have their distinct flavours and looks, Lindt took the top spot for me due to its thickness of chocolate and creaminess.
