‘Easy’ air fryer banana bread recipe uses just five ingredients – recipe

How to make air fryer chocolate and berry baked oats

Air fryers are an efficient and economical way to quickly cook food, unlike ovens which heat up the entire large space.

Switching from an electric oven to an air fryer means Britons will save money, which is ideal when banana bread typically takes 45 minutes to cook.

BBC Good Foods air fryer banana bread recipe is “easy” with only five ingredients needed to make the tasty cake, serving 12 people and costing just 12p per portion.

If your air fryer doesn’t fit a loaf tin, perhaps opt for cupcakes, muffins or any shape that’ll work with your appliance.

Once you have found a tin that will fit, line it with parchment paper to avoid the banana bread sticking to it.

Ingredients:

  • 150ml sunflower or vegetable oil
  • 150g caster sugar
  • 1tsp baking powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 over-ripe bananas

Method:

Start by heating the air fryer to 160C before combining the oil, sugar, baking powder and eggs in a bowl.

Once that has been mixed, mash the bananas and mix them into the batter. If Britons want to spruce up their banana bread, now is the stage to add in any nuts or chocolate chips.

BBC Good Food recommended adding in 50g of the chosen food, with dark chocolate chips as a popular option.

Pour batter into the tin and bake for 45 minutes to one hour, or until a skewer inserted in the middle comes out clean before leaving to cool.

Check after 20 minutes in case it’s beginning to brown too much. If so, turn down the heat by 20C, or cover with foil to prevent the top from burning.

This banana bread will keep in an airtight container for up to three days, or it can be frozen to make it last longer.

Bananas can ripen extremely quickly, especially when left in a fruit bowl with other fruits during the summer months.

This is because bananas release a lot of ethylene gas as they ripen, causing them and nearby fruits to brown.

It is recommended to hang bananas to keep them fresh as well as prevent any bruising, allowing the air to flow and move freely around them.
