Greggs customers have shared his ingenious hacks for reheating their sausage rolls and bakes.

The popular chain says it bakes its products fresh before storing them in a shelf to cool. It does not use a heated counter, heat retaining packaging, or market them as hot.

This is because it would cost more for the customer, it says. The Greggs website states: “As bakers, we believe that baking our savouries fresh each day gives customers the best quality product.

“If the sausage rolls and bakes were kept hot after they had been baked, then they would be subject to VAT and the customer would have to be charged a higher price, in the same way that we charge VAT on our hot sandwiches which are kept in a heated cabinet and are subject to VAT.”

One fan says his father rests his products on a household radiator. He said: “Asked my dad why he doesn’t just use the microwave to warm the sausage roll but apparently it’s ‘not the same’ and there’s an ‘art to it’.”

Another shared a picture of a sausage roll being warmed on a car dashboard. They remarked: “This is multi-tasking at its best — doing the morning commute while getting to my job, with brekkie ready when I get there.”

A third said: “Put mine on the heater vents on my van, works every time.”

A final commentator said anyone microwaving a sausage roll needs to consider their settings. He said the microwave needs to be at either 30 or 50%.
