Sopaipillas

Ingredients

  1. 4 cups flour
  2. 1 1/4 tsp. Salt
  3. 3 tsp. Baking powder
  4. 3 Tbsp. Sugar
  5. 2 Tbsp. Shortening
  6. 1 1/4 cup milk

Steps

  1. Mix flour salt baking powder and sugar.Rub in shortening with fingertips and add milk to make a soft dough just firm enough to roll. Allow dough to rest for 30-60 minutes; roll out 1/4 inch thick on light floured board and cut into Diamond shaped pieces fry in deep fat 390 to -400 turn at once so they will puff evenly then turn back to brown light on both sides.Drain onto paper towels. Serve with butter and honey 4 makes dozen or more.
