Scotch Eggs

I saw a post on reddit talking about these, had to try them out. Soft boiled eggs wrapped in italian sausage, breaded and fried. This is not an easy recipe to make, I went through six eggs before I had two that came out nicely done, so I put as many photos in as I could.

  1. 4 eggs
  2. Half pound italian sausage
  3. 1/2 cup flour
  4. 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  5. 1/2 tsp paprika
  6. 1/4 tsp onion powder
  7. 1/4 tsp fennel

  1. Soft boil 3 eggs, about 6 min, cool and set aside.

  2. Set up a station to bread the Scotch eggs with flour, breadcrumbs, and an egg.

  3. Form the sausage into rough pattys

  4. Wrap egg in sausage, then dredge in flour, egg, then breadcrumbs.

  5. Fry turning often to cook all sides.

  6. Note: if you prefer country sausage to italian it works too, just omit the fennel.
