Grandmother's pound cake
- 3 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup crisco
- 3 cups flour, unsifted
- 1/2 t. Salt
- 1/2 t. Baking soda
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 4 eggs
- 2 t. Almond extract
Preheat oven to 350.
Cream the sugar, butter, and crisco in a mixing bowl (with mixer).
In a separate bowl, mix flour, salt and soda.
Add eggs and almond extract to creamy mixture. Gradually add in the dry mixture.
Grease and flour (or use Pam Baking spray) a bundt pan
Bake for an hour – hour and half. (Check after an hour)
Try with strawberry blackberry compote (chilled) and homemade vanilla ice cream **
💫Put 1 whole almond in for good luck.
