Grandmother's pound cake

Ingredients

  1. 3 cups sugar
  2. 1/2 cup butter, softened
  3. 1/2 cup crisco
  4. 3 cups flour, unsifted
  5. 1/2 t. Salt
  6. 1/2 t. Baking soda
  7. 1 cup buttermilk
  8. 4 eggs
  9. 2 t. Almond extract

Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 350.

  2. Cream the sugar, butter, and crisco in a mixing bowl (with mixer).

  3. In a separate bowl, mix flour, salt and soda.

  4. Add eggs and almond extract to creamy mixture. Gradually add in the dry mixture.

  5. Grease and flour (or use Pam Baking spray) a bundt pan

  6. Bake for an hour – hour and half. (Check after an hour)

  7. Try with strawberry blackberry compote (chilled) and homemade vanilla ice cream **

  8. ­čĺźPut 1 whole almond in for good luck.
