Laura Hamilton has appeared on A Place In The Sun for nearly 10 years. When not on the small screen, Laura gives fans a look into her diet and exercise regimes on Instagram.
Gyms were closed for the majority of the last year and many Britons had to turn to working out from home.
While fitness fanatics have been forced to change their workouts routines, Laura has been on hand to offer guidance and encouragement.
The TV favourite has shared her workout tips on social media during the coronavirus lockdown.
She opened up on how she managed to stay fit when the gyms were closed.
Laura told Express.co.uk: “Throughout lockdown I have either done virtual classes with David Lloyd, the gym I belong to, or I have worked out with two personal trainer friends and we have gone live on instagram and encouraged others to join us.”
With gyms now open in many parts of the UK, the mother-of-two added she is likely to mix home workouts with gym sessions.
“I will probably do less virtual classes now because I love to go to the gym to socialise as well as workout,” she continued.
“Nothing beats the atmosphere in the gym or in a class with others. I find it can really help motivate me.”
Finding the motivation to workout is not always easy with lots of factors delaying an exercise session.
Working out with others can be a great way to find motivation for many and lots of people have been enjoying the return to the gym and outdoor classes.
Laura continued to say having structure has also helped her stay motivated to get moving during the various stages of lockdown.
She stated: “For me it’s all about structure and routine.”
In order to find routine, Laura added working out in the morning was the most “beneficial” for her.
“I always find it beneficial working out first thing in the morning and then I feel set, ready and energised for the day,” she continued.
“I work out then have a nutritious breakfast using one of the recipes from my Lifesum app.”
The A Place In The Sun presenter added she will fuel her workouts with healthy meals.
With two young children at home, she said she will often get them involved in her workouts and healthy cooking.
“I think it’s important for your children to have a healthy lifestyle so I try and make sure they keep as active as I do,” she explained.
“I involve them in my workouts and get them to help me with the cooking! It’s a juggle but I wouldn’t change it for the world.”
What is the keto diet?
The 39-year-old said she followed a ketogenic diet, which is a plan low in carbs and high in fat.
She explained: “A ketogenic diet is when you cut back on the amount of sugar and carbs you eat and put your body into a metabolic state of ketosis.
“When you are in ketosis your body becomes very efficient at burning fat for energy.
“A ketogenic diet isn’t just about weight loss there are other health benefits helping fight against cancer, epilepsy and diabetes.”
