What can you do?
Joe explained slimmers will need to transform their diet and exercise plan to shape up.
However, some exercises are better than others when trying to slim the waistline.
He told Express.co.uk: “The exercise that can help with weight loss is a combination of both resistance training and cardio.
“So, I’m a big fan of body weight training in terms of HIIT stuff like press ups and squats and mountain climbers.”
What is HIIT?
Joe explained doing HIIT, or High Intensity Interval Training, can help people slim down in a short space of time.
“It’s a very short workout, so it accommodates to the people who are very busy, it’s great for people that don’t have a lot of time,” he added.
“You can burn loads of energy in a very short amount of time, so if you’re someone who wants to stay fit and lean but don’t want to spend too much time in the gym, I think HIIT can really help.”
Not only can the exercise be done quickly, they do not require any equipment making them accessible for everyone.
Joe said: “It can be done anywhere anytime without any equipment just using your body weight.
“I really believe in home workouts and exercising when you’re traveling and on the go in your hotel or in a park or a school trip, you can always exercise and do HIIT, so it’s really great.”
- The Atkins Diet: Everything you need to know
As well as getting the heart rate up with the cardio exercises, Joe revealed resistance training also plays an important part in losing weight.
He said: “Resistance training like pull ups, dumbbell squats and heavy kettlebell lunges, things that will get your legs and upper body working and maximising the time they’re exercising for.”
However, Joe revealed the common mistake slimmers will often make when switching up their diet or exercise routine.
He said: “The common mistakes people make is being too extreme, whether its cutting everything out at once or excessively exercising or going on a very low-calorie diet.
“You don’t need to be so drastic in your approach – it’s about making small changes.
“If you’re going to start exercising, get positive and in terms of your food, focus on home cooked food and try to imagine yourself eating this all year long, and not turning this into a short-term fix.”
Joe recently held a 30-minute intense workout during Dubai Fitness Challenge 2019, an event which hosts more than 5,000 fitness classes and sessions across the city.
