The Royal Family are a very athletic and sporty family, with most members participating in at least one regular sport. For example, Prince Charles played polo, Prince Harry was on the Eton rugby team, and the Duchess of Cambridge is a skilled field hockey player. Some members, such as Princess Anne and Zara Tindall even made it to the Olympics where they both competed in the Equestrian races for Team GB.

The Queen also loves riding horses and has recently been photographed horse-riding on the grounds of Windsor Castle at age 95.

The Queen’s late husband, Prince Philip was also a royal navy officer, after being promoted to Lieutenant Commander in July 1950.

Kate Middleton was extremely sporty when in school, enjoying hockey and tennis in which she excelled.

Prince William and Prince Harry were also very sporty as children, with both Princes growing up to be in physically demanding roles.

William was an air ambulance pilot between 2015 and 2017 for East Anglia.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry served two tours in Afghanistan, even being promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 2008.

Harry went on to champion the charitable sporting initiative, the Invictus Games.

This was a sports tournament for injured servicemen and women.

Harry and William’s mother Princess Diana was also quite sporty.

The Princess of Wales was a regular member of her gym, the Chelsea Harbour Club, which she was often photographed attending.

Even Prince George, eight, is a massive football fan as he was pictured going wild at the final of Euro 2020 at Wembley Stadium in July 2021.

Michael Brigo, a Personal Trainer from BriGo Personal Training spoke exclusively to about the Royal Family and which members were the most athletic.

He said: “The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, has a slender and athletic physique which is most likely shaped by doing resistance-based gym workouts primarily focusing on strength training using bodyweight and weights.

“In addition, she’s an outdoorsy person and has been known to enjoy running, skiing and tennis, it wouldn’t surprise me if on average her run was 10km or above.

“As it is known Princess Eugenie has experienced her own transformational fitness journey.

“With a combination of a healthy diet, it’s very likely her exercise regime consists of HIIT (high intensity interval training) doing circuits with a mixture of bodyweight cardio exercises such as jump squats, burpees, high knees and lunges.

“Just to name a few!

“Princess Beatrice gave birth in autumn and she’s already looking in great shape.

“Diet is a major factor in any weight loss plan ever more so when pregnant.

“It’s certain she embarked on post-natal exercises to strengthen her body followed by a progressively more intense resistance-based exercise for body tone, strength and shape with cardio exercise for that extra calorie burning boost!”
