Hairy Bikers weight loss: The TV chefs shed astounding 7st with this diet plan

Fans of the shows will notice they have slimmed down and David and Simon have made an effort to be healthier in recent years. What diet plan did they follow?

The Hairy Bikers often travel the country and take food inspiration from the places they visit.

However, they have recently started making healthy meals a priority when cooking.

David and Simon revealed they were first inspired to slim down after a friend, who was a doctor, explained they were unhealthy.

This prompted the duo to change their diet and try to be more active.

Dave and Simon both lost an impressive 3st 7lb by making these changes in their diet, they told Good to Know.

Simon explained: “It’s never too late to do something about it, you just need very small incremental steps, such as walking 500 yards more every day.

“It’s not rocket science, it’s not about massive changes. With lots of small changes you develop momentum, you can see the difference.”

In a bid to create healthier meals, the pair focused on using spices to add flavour.

Simon added: “There are very few calories in spice. If you’re clever with herbs and spices you can make fantastic dishes which have less calories.”

While many slimmers will cut back on high carb foods in a bid to shape up, the Hairy Bikers refused to do this.

Instead, they watched their portion sizes when indulging in the food group.

He said: “You can have carbohydrates as long as you’re careful because your body needs it – carbs just shouldn’t be the biggest portion on your plate.

“It’s not rocket science, it’s just making sure that the food you eat is comforting, nutritious and is held back on the salts and sugars a bi.”

While controlling portion sizes, the chefs will also watch their calorie intake.

Speaking on calorie counting, Simon said: “That’s how Dave and I lost weight, we counted calories, simple as that.”

Counting calories is a popular plan for many people trying to lose a few pounds.

Doing this can ensure slimmers don’t overeat and excess calories do not get stored as fat.

The website said: “Any excess calories you eat will be stored as fat, and consistently eating more than you burn will cause weight gain over time.

“When it comes to your weight, calories do count. This is a fact that has been proven time and time again in scientific experiments called overfeeding studies.”
