Prince William, 40, and Prince Harry, 38, have both proved their physical abilities over the years, with the Duke of Sussex serving two tours of Afghanistan and the Prince of Wales serving as a full-time pilot with the East Anglian Air Ambulance.
Although the royals have not confirmed their diet and exercise regime, Amanda Place, a certified health coach, personal trainer and fitness instructor spoke exclusively to Express.co.uk to share her opinion on which brother is in the best shape and follows the most “varied diet”.
She claimed: “Harry [may have] the most varied diet with the most fruit and vegetables. This is mainly contributed by his health-conscious wife, Meghan Markle.
“They are rarely spotted with fast food, preferring instead healthier foods like kale and green smoothies. Conversely, Prince William opts for dishes like steak, pizza, or roast chicken and is known to have a sweet tooth for the royal favourite, chocolate biscuit cake.”
The Prince has admitted he likes all of these things in various interviews, with former royal chef Darren McGrady previously sharing William enjoyed chocolate biscuit cake, opting to have it at his 2011 wedding to Kate Middleton.
Amanda argues that the Duke’s move to California has likely “influenced” his change in diet.
She explained: “Harry’s move to California has influenced his diet for the better. Since moving overseas, he has ditched consuming popular junk food items like pizza and has adopted a diet consisting of high protein, minimal sugar, and plenty of fruit and vegetables.”
The health coach suggested how William and Harry’s exercise routines differ on opposite sides of the Atlantic.
Amanda stated: “Prince Harry performs the most exercise out of the two. Prince William still has a jam-packed schedule of royal appearances, so his workout plan of choice is the Royal Canadian Air Force 5BX plan.
“This only takes 11 minutes and is comprised of five moves that work the whole body,” which would keep William in amazing shape.”
William, as well as his father Prince Charles and late grandfather Prince Philip all loved doing this exercise routine which has been well documented.
The expert continued: “Harry has a little bit more time on his hands now that he has been released from royal duties and still maintains an army-level fitness regimen.
“The Duke of Sussex’s exercise routine mainly consists of strength training with barbells and dumbbells along with boxing for high-intensity training.” Harry has been photographed many times performing these types of exercises.
Prince Harry has a long background of fighting in the military and displayed his physical strength during an interview with James Corden last year.
The Prince performed an agility course with perfect ease, which involved climbing high ropes, jumping over large obstacles and running at a high speed.
Amanda claimed that this does “not necessarily” mean he is automatically fitter than his older brother William.
She explained: “When in the army, Harry would have met the physical standards set by the army such as running 2km (1.2 miles) in 11 minutes and 15 seconds, and achieving a seated medicine ball throw (4kg) of at least 2.9m.
“However, once out of the army there is no responsibility to meet those standards.” Harry does continue to exercise though, according to Amanda.
“Prince Harry does continue to maintain his army-level fitness though by sticking to rigorous strength exercises and high-intensity circuit training,” as was demonstrated on James Corden’s Late Late Show. The expert added: “Based on this, I believe he is currently fitter out of the two brothers.”
Although both brothers appear to eat very healthy diets, Darren McGrady previously revealed one of Prince William and Prince Harry’s favourite dishes when they were younger was crispy skin-on chicken with mac and cheese. These were prepared very simply with salt before being roasted in the oven.
The former royal chef divulged that the Princes also enjoyed the chicken and mac and cheese with a side of sweetcorn, but when their nanny was in the house, the chicken had to be accompanied by broccoli.
Reportedly, the deal that was agreed upon was Harry and William had to eat a floret of broccoli for every piece of chicken they ate, to ensure they ate enough vegetables.
