We’re Obsessed With These 8 Summer Drinks From Trader Joe’s

July has only just begun, but the weather is already sweltering. It’s important to stay hydrated in the middle of summer heatwave, but let’s face it—water can get kind of boring! While infused water is a good way to switch up the flavor profile without adding any extra calories or sugar, we were looking for other hydration options.

We decided to swing by Trader Joe’s to check out their selection of summer beverages (read: found an excuse to peruse the air-conditioned aisles of one of our favorite grocers), and we found some pretty delicious and refreshing drinks to keep us hydrated. Many of these drinks would also be amazing in a healthy summer cocktail (or mocktail).

Stay up to date on what healthy means now.

We had eight pretty unanimous favorites out of the 15 drinks we tried, and we think you’ll love them, too. Here are our picks.

Cold-Pressed Watermelon Juice

TJ’s cold-pressed watermelon juice is super refreshing and has the perfect amount of sweetness. This juice is made simply with watermelon and lemon juice, and it tastes like you stuck a straw in the fruit itself.

This watermelon juice is a great source of potassium, vitamin A, and vitamin C, making it a sweet treat you can feel great about drinking on a hot summer’s day. One of our staff also loves using it in festive cocktails!

Organic Lemongrass Spearmint Herbal Flavored Water

This herbal water tastes like it would be served at a spa, and makes for a fun way to hydrate sans sugar. We didn’t expect to enjoy it so much, and although it does taste slightly like our favorite minty gum, it’s a nice change of pace from plain old tap water. Toss in some sliced cucumbers and you might as well be on your way to getting a massage!

Organic Cold-Pressed Fruit Stand Juice Beverage

Good work, Trader Joe’s! We’re big fans of all the flavors happening in this tasty bottle. This juice is unlike anything we’ve tried, since it’s made with pineapple, cucumber, coconut water, jicama, lime, pink salt, and cayenne pepper. We know it sounds odd, but you’ll just have to trust us on this one.

This juice is pretty low in sugar compared to other brands. It has just 15g in the whole bottle, and none of it’s added. TJ’s Fruit Stand juice would be the perfect post-workout beverage, as it is loaded with potassium and a little sodium to get the electrolyte boost we need after a sweat session.

Blueberry & Pomegranate Green Tea

This drink was a true underdog that quickly became a fan favorite in the office. While some wish it was slightly sweetened, this tea has a complex balance of sweet-tart flavor alongside earthy green tea, and kept us wanting more!

Our staff thought TJ’s Blueberry & Pomegranate Green Tea would make a killer cocktail alongside some simple syrup and your favorite spirit. Plus, one cup packs in half of your daily Vitamin C needs!

Sparkling Watermelon Juice

Give. Us. All. The. Sparkling. Watermelon. Juice. While we already wrote a love letter to this TJ’s summer beverage—and shared a cocktail recipe using it—we thought it was worth mentioning again.

While this sparkling water-juice hybrid does taste more like “liquid Pop Rocks” than real watermelon, we can’t get enough. It’s also a great source of potassium and even has 2g fiber for a little healthy boost.

Rhubarb & Strawberry Soda

This adorable little can tastes pretty farm-fresh, if you ask us. We are big fans of the sweet strawberry and tart rhubarb balance, and the bubbles make it fizzy and light. We can’t wait to try this out in a cocktail with some fresh basil or mint ASAP.

Red Cold-Pressed Juice

Even the beet haters on our staff were pretty pleased with this beautifully colored drink. The intense earthiness of beets was mellowed out with tart apple, ginger, and lemon—without losing too much of the beet flavor.

This cold-pressed juice packs 70 percent of your daily vitamin A needs and is also a sneaky source of protein—there are 4g in this bottle of juice!

Sparkling Coconut Water With Yuzu

This funky twist on coconut water debuted in the fall, and we’ve been sipping on it ever since. We must say, it’s even better in the summertime! Yuzu is a super-sweet Asian fruit that tastes like pineapple, and combined with coconut it reminds us of the beach. Plus, it has 3g fiber per can, and we always love a fiber boost.

Seltzers With a Splash Cranberry-Lime

This was our favorite flavor of TJ’s Seltzers With a Splash line. Not only could we instantly see it making our cocktails much lighter, but it’s pretty refreshing to sip on its own. Like most seltzers, it doesn’t have a strong taste, but this one hits all the right flavor notes.
