We Tried the New Peanut Butter Lovers Reese's Cups and They're Amazing

I love Reese’s Cups. Like, I really, really love them. I have to avoid candy aisles at all costs, or risk finding myself with a cart full of peanut butter cups and an empty wallet.

I’m always open to Reese’s variations—from pieces to eggs, I love ‘em all. But nothing beats the O.G. Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. Or does it?

In case you missed it, Reese’s just debuted two limited-time-only flavors targeted toward chocolate and peanut butter lovers. They’re called, appropriately, Reese’s Peanut Butter Lovers and Reese’s Chocolate Lovers.

Being the Reese’s aficionado that I am, I obviously had to try them both. Here’s what I thought:

The Reese’s Chocolate Lovers is perfectly fine. Each cup “contains a higher proportion of chocolate, richer and darker milk chocolate, and a thicker chocolate shell,” according to a press release.

I’m going to be straight with you guys: This tasted like a Reese’s Cup. Yeah, I could kind of tell that the chocolate was richer than normal—but it wasn’t super obvious.

The real star of the show was Reese’s Peanut Butter Lovers, which Reese’s says “contain a higher proportion of peanut butter and a visible peanut butter-like top layer.”

I’m honestly having a hard time explaining how delicious these are, so please allow this Lady Gaga GIF to do the talking:

Perfectly creamy with just the right balance of salty and sweet, these cups might just be the best thing Reese’s has ever done.

Food & Wine said they should be called “Reese’s Plus,” and I’m inclined to agree.

Sadly, they won’t be around forever—so get a package (or 50) while you can.
