Former ‘Great British Baking Show’ Contestant Luis Troyano Has Died At 48

Former Great British Bake Off contestant Luis Troyano has died at 48 years old from esophageal cancer.
His agent Anne Kibel announced the news on Twitter, saying that: “Sadly, my lovely client lost his brave fight against Oesophageal cancer last week. A fantastic man with a love of baking that saw him get to the finals of GBBO, write a wonderful book, Bake It Great and do so much more. Always in our thoughts.”
She also shared a JustGiving fundraiser for Macmillan Cancer Support, a British charity that “provides specialist health care, information and financial support to people affected by cancer.” The page also shared a message from Luis himself:
Luis was a finalist on season five of the The Great British Bake Off, known as Collection One of The Great British Baking Show in America on Netflix. He became a fan favorite on the show and published his cookbook Bake It Great in 2015. The show paid tribute to him in a tweet:
We are deeply saddened to hear that Luis Troyano has passed away. It was a huge honour and pleasure to have him in the Bake Off Tent for Series Five. Our condolences and thoughts go out to his friends and family. pic.twitter.com/4gLiNBGaUL
Fans quickly flooded into the replies to the tweet, sharing some of their favorite memories of Luis. Former Bake Off contestants, hosts, and judges also tweeted in memory of the beloved baker.
