Chili’s Is Bringing Back The Straw-Eddy ‘Rita As Its $5 Margarita For April

Original, April 1, 2019: Chili’s is celebrating April 1 (aka Fool’s Day) a little differently than its competitors. Instead of tricking us with milkshake sauce and edible face masks, the beloved bar and grill is launching its latest $5 margarita—and it’s no joke.
For the entire month, they’re serving up specialty Straw-Eddy ‘Ritas with not one, but two kinds of alcohol because “when life gives you Deep Eddy Lemon Vodka, just add Lunazul® Blanco Tequila, Strawberry Purée, and Fresh Sour,” the site reads. Chili’s is basically hosting a grown-up lemonade stand, and we’re here for it.
The promotion is hardly new. The company has continued to release on-theme $5 margs month after month. Throughout March, customers indulged with The Lucky Jameson in honor of St. Patty’s and sampled The Great Pumpkin ahead of last Halloween.

Meanwhile Applebee’s has announced the return of their own strawberry Dollarita. So, looks like the Straw-Eddy has got some competition. And though it only touts one type of liquor, your cocktail’s accompanied with a Twizzler straw. Eco-friendly and won’t dissolve in your drink? We’re in.

“It’s crazy to think that our most popular drink could get any better, but with the addition of strawberry, our guests are going to love how good this Dollarita tastes,” vice president of beverage innovation at Applebee’s Patrick Kirk said following the original launch. “The Strawberry Dollarita is the perfect way to cool down on those hot August days and enjoy the final days of summer.”
Chili’s $5 Straw-Eddy and Applebee’s $1 Strawberry Dollarita are both available through April 31. Which means plenty of time to try both!
