Victory in Europe Day celebrates the day that allied forces announced the surrender of Nazi forces in Germany on May 8, 1945. The day was cause for celebration all around the world and today, thousands of people worldwide still celebrate the day and remember the sacrifice made by many.
Despite being stuck at home due to lockdown restrictions, the day is still being marked by a series of special programming across major channels, and the Queen will deliver a speech to mark the occasion.
Brits are also invited to join in a clap on their doorsteps and the two minute silence to remember the fallen.
