Mulled Wine (Vin Chaud)


  • 1 (750 milliliter) bottle red wine (such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Beaujolais, or Burgundy)
  • 2 cups apple juice
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 3cinnamon sticks
  • 10 pods cardamom pods
  • 8whole cloves
  • ½ teaspoon anise seed
  • Directions

  • Step 1

    Stir red wine, apple juice, honey, cinnamon sticks, cardamom pods, cloves, and anise together in a saucepan over medium-low heat. Simmer until flavors blend, at least 10 minutes.


  • Cook's Note:

    Pour into glasses through a strainer or use a spice bag to keep the spices in the pot and out of your glass.
