When you fancy a slice of cake, the last thing you want to do is spend hours busy in the kitchen. Sometimes you only want a one-person serving, not a whole cake. Luckily, you can whip one up in just seven minutes in a mug! Express.co.uk reveals how to make a chocolate mug cake, according to BBC Good Food.
How to make chocolate cake in a mug in 7 minutes
Ingredients
- 4 tbsp self-raising flour
- 4 tbsp caster sugar
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1 medium egg
- 3 tbsp milk
- 3 tbsp vegetable oil or sunflower oil
- a few drops of vanilla essence or another essence (orange or peppermint work well)
- 2 tbsp chocolate chips, nuts, or raisins etc (optional)
Recipe
Step one
Add four tbsp self-raising flour, four tbsp caster sugar and two tbsp cocoa powder to the largest mug you have.
Make sure it’s large enough to stop it overflowing in the microwave).
Mix to combine all of the ingredients together.
Step two
Add one medium egg and mix in as much as you can, but don’t worry if there’s still dry mix left.
Step three
Add the three tbsp milk, three tbsp vegetable or sunflower oil and a few drops of vanilla essence and mix until smooth.
You don’t want any lumps or bumps at this point, so be thorough.
Then, add two tbsp chocolate chips, nuts, or raisins, if using, and mix again.
Step four
Centre your mug in the middle of the microwave oven and cook on High for 1½ to two mins.
If you don’t think the cake is cooked, keep microwaving until it has stopped rising and is firm to the touch.
When it’s done, carefully remove the mug from the microwave and serve alone or with ice cream.
