Guacamole Cheese Now Exists—But Is it Healthy?
The Fresh Market grocery chain is debuting a product we’ve never seen before in this avocado-saturated world, and we have to admit we’re more than a bit intrigued: It’s a guacamole-infused gouda cheese and it’s coming to all 161 locations this Wednesday—just in time for Cinco de Mayo!
The cheese, called Amanti Guacamole Cheese and made by Daily Dairy in Holland, is a green (like “moon cheese” green) cow’s milk gouda blended with avocado, lime juice, chili, tomato, onion and garlic.
We’re all for gouda. (It really ratchets up mac and cheese, and makes a great beer-based sauce.) And while this announcement has us wondering if this could be the key to producing the ultimate Mexican-style dip—guacamole queso, anyone?—it also has us wondering just how healthy it is.
We’ve reached out to Fresh Market, and will let you know the nutrition facts as soon as we have them. But based on the ingredients, this guacamole-blend cheese could be a little healthier, especially if the avocado replaces some of the saturated fats with heart-healthy unsaturated ones. It also could save you a few calories this weekend by opting for one guacamole-infused queso dip instead of grabbing a serving of both guac and queso.
We will definitely update this story with the latest nutritional info as we receive it.

Amanti Guacamole Cheese will retail for $24.99 per pound—because anything with guacamole is always extra. This cheese is sold in a giant green wheel, but it can be sliced and bought in wedges by the pound.
