Cooking enthusiast Ereka Vetrini, also known as @ereksafood, took to TikTok to share a tried and tested method for cooking pasta perfectly.

Al dente, meaning “to the tooth” is a particular way of cooking pasta.

The result is tender but also firm and chewy to taste.

Italy Magazine stated: “To be truly Italian, al dente – literally meaning ‘to the tooth’, or with a bit of bite – is the only way to go.”

Ereka told her fellow pasta lovers: “I just discovered the most amazing pasta hack.”

She found this in 1995 book Italian Food by Elizabeth David.

Ereka continued: “Use one litre of water for every quarter pound of pasta.

“One the water is boiling, add one tablespoon of salt for every two litres of water.

“Now add your pasta.”

For this particular method of cooking, the pasta doesn’t have to be cooked for very long at all.

“Once it returns to the boil cook for exactly three minutes.”

Next, cooking enthusiasts should turn off the heat and cover the pasta.

This should be done with a towel and lid.

Thicker pastas such as rigatoni can be left for eight minutes.

Thinner pastas only need five minutes.

After this, the pasta can be drained.

Trying out her method, Ereka revealed: “It totally worked.

“It’s got a little bit of bite – but not too much.”

Ereka’s TikTok was favourited by more than 25,000 people and saved an enormous 3,000 times.

Fellow foodie @raphaelprins called it a “game changer”.

@cassbroderick added: “I tried this…IT’S AMAZING.”

@nursechic3n8 said: “Thank you. I hate a mushy noodle.”
